The Dining Table - Restoration Project



This table was bought from our local charity shop. It's a 'Old Charm' table and is made from solid oak. As you can see in the photos it hadn't been used for a long time and was covered in cobwebs. We bought it for a very reasonable price and set about (respectfully) updating it.

The main thing to do was sand down the table especially the top which included a folding middle extension. Over the years the table had seen several coats of varnish so it took some time to sand back to the bare wood. The result was well worth it though. I painted the bottom part of the table in an antique cream to match the other restored furniture in our living/dining room. The table top featured beautiful solid wood and adding varnish to this helped the grain really stand out.

Dresser - Restoration Project



I found this dresser whilst browsing my local charity shop it cost £15! My husband helped to sand off the varnish, which exposed some really nice wood, possibly oak? The handles are from B&Q and actually cost a bit more than the dresser.

I love the vintage feel it has now and the stripping of the varnish has brought out the detail in the wood. A great piece of furniture to display my great vintage finds. I also use this dresser to display many of my felt products.

Sewing Table - Restoration Project



This used to be my Grandma's sewing table, I thought it was too good to just send to the skip. I painted the whole thing and sprayed the metal 'Bradbury' frame and foot pedal. It now resides in our guest bedroom. I picked up the cute little knobs in a haberdashery shop in Shrewsbury. Centre of the table used to have a hole in it where the sewing machine stood. Unfortunately we didn't take any 'before' pictures as this was one of the first pieces we renovated.
